Domestic, commercial and industrial environments are covered regularly in Staffordshire.
Annual care of fabrics prevents premature wear and costly replacement. Most importantly the unseen build up of pollutants filtered out of the air and into the fabric, will be safely removed. Your furniture will look better too! Furniture can be dry before the job is completed, but certainly in a few hours and can be usable the same day.
Cleaning upholstery including curtains, blinds and mattresses is undertaken using the latest technology in equipment and all upholstery cleaning products are designed to work quickly and effectively without bleaches or strong toxic additives. There is no shampoo which leaves dirt attracting residues. The main constituents of the cleaning agents are used in the food processing and dental industries. Note, furniture will get dirtier in rooms with hard-floors, as there is no dirt entrapment at floor level,
Myths have arisen from poor operatives, usually low priced, using poor equipment, or are untrained; who at best clean poorly, and at worst cause damage, ditto DIY attempts at cleaning by householders. A common myth is that wet cleaning will ruin furniture. Most items can be wet cleaned – (and will be cleaned better that way) – with the correct equipment and an experienced technician, and will dry quickly.
This is not to be confused with throwing cushion covers into a washing machine, which can cause damage.
Note zips are put on cushion covers to help upholsterers fit them, without the need for sewing, not to allow domestic washing machine use!
Curtains can be re-vitalised whist hanging. This takes away the unnecessary task of taking them down, visiting a dry cleaners (twice) and re-hanging them.
Heavy build up of dust and similar contaminants to those found in mattresses (see below), can be removed quickly and easily, and be more cost effective than the tiresome process of the dry cleaner visit.
This photograph illustrates the contamination removed from an ‘average’ mattress.
Some of the many potentially harmful organisms found in this include dust mites, dust mite excrement, bacteria, viruses, fungi and flakes of decaying dry skin.
There’s nothing new about cleaning mattresses, just many more reasons for having them cleaned…
Due to the modern day environment, created by double glazing and central heating, and the resulting increase in dust mites, bacteria, viruses and other filthy residues in our beds, there has been a corresponding increase in health problems such as Asthma, Eczema, Hay Fever and allergies. So having our mattresses cleaned regularly is more important than ever before.
Your grandparents regularly dragged theirs out into the garden on a cold day and beat them for half an hour or more. They knew what was good for them! The cold killed the mites and the beating removed their excrement and other contaminants. But due to the weight and composition of the modern mattress, which makes them too heavy to carry outside, and the time pressure created by today’s hectic world, we don’t do that any more.
Whether or not you suffer from any associated medical condition, it’s so good to sleep in a really clean, hygienic bed. You’ll awake refreshed without a stuffy blocked up nose!
The mattress is, without a doubt, the dirtiest object we have close contact with. We spend one third of our lives sleeping on mattresses that are extremely soiled and as such, potentially dangerous to their health. This applies equally to a mattress that is only a few months old as it does to a mattress several years old.
It is erroneous to believe that a sheet will protect against this kind of dirt, consisting of micro particles (1 – 20 microns). A bed sheet protects against these particles about as much as fishing net would protect against sand. With every movement of the body in bed, dust and mite excrement are churned up. The mattress acts as a bellows, blowing dirt into mouth, nose, and eyes and onto the skin.
